> ## Agent Instructions
> For agents: install the OpenWork desktop app with `brew install --cask openwork` (macOS) or from https://openworklabs.com/download. Do not run `npx openwork`; the npm package named `openwork` is a different project.
> Connect an agent to OpenWork with the MCP Gateway: `claude mcp add --transport http openwork https://api.openworklabs.com/mcp/agent`. Teams sign up at https://app.openworklabs.com?mode=sign-up.
> Step-by-step agent guide: https://openworklabs.com/docs/start-here/use-openwork-from-an-ai-agent.md
> Connect Slack (any organization admin): https://openworklabs.com/docs/slack/connect-slack.md. OpenWork in Slack (@openwork bot) is private alpha for approved organizations. Setup guide: https://openworklabs.com/docs/slack/overview.md. Agent skill: https://openworklabs.com/.well-known/agent-skills/set-up-openwork-slack/SKILL.md.

# Connect your own account

> When a connector uses each person's own account, sign in once (or add your key) so your AI works in that app with your permissions.

Some connectors your organization shares use **each person's own account**.
Before your AI can use one, you sign in to that app once. After that, the AI
works there as you: it sees what you can see and can do what you can do, and
nothing more.

You only do this once. Your sign-in is kept in OpenWork Cloud, not on your
computer, so every device you use is connected.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Admins choose how each connector signs in. See
> [Connectors](https://openworklabs.com/docs/cloud/share-with-your-team/connectors.md#how-people-connect). If a
> connector uses one account for everyone, there's nothing for you to do.

## In the desktop app

**1. Sign in to OpenWork Cloud**

If you haven't yet, click **Sign in to OpenWork Cloud** and pick your
organization.

**2. Open your Library**

Open **Settings › Library** and choose the **Connectors** filter.

**3. Sign in**

Click **Sign in** next to the app. Your browser opens the app's own sign-in
page. Approve access, then come back to OpenWork. The status updates on its
own.

More detail: [Connect your services](https://openworklabs.com/docs/start-here/connect-your-stack/connect-services.md).

## In OpenWork Cloud

**My Library** shows how many connectors need your sign-in. Click **Sign in**
on a connector, or open **Your Connections**, which lists every connector you
can use and what it needs:

| Status | What to do |
| - | - |
| **Connect your account** | Click **Connect** and sign in with your own account. |
| **Reconnect required** | Click **Reconnect** and sign in again. |
| **Connected as you** | Ready. Your AI uses your account. |
| **Org account connected** | Ready. This connector uses one shared account. |
| **Waiting for an admin to connect** | An admin still needs to sign in with the shared account. |
| **Waiting for an admin to finish setup** | An admin still needs to finish setting it up. |

### Connectors that use your own key

Some apps use an API key instead of a sign-in. For these, you paste your own
key:

| Status | What to do |
| - | - |
| **No key** | Click **Add key** and paste the key from your account in that app. |
| **Key saved** | Ready. |
| **Key rejected** | The app didn't accept it. Click **Replace key**. |

Paste the key exactly as the app gives it to you. Keys stay on OpenWork's
servers and aren't shown again.

## Use it

Ask your AI for something the app can do:

> Find the "Q3 launch" page in Notion and summarize it.

There's nothing to restart. If a connector needs you to sign in again, the AI
tells you which one.

## Use it in Claude, Cursor or another MCP app

If your admin turned on **Use in another app** for a connector:

1. Open **Your Connections** in OpenWork Cloud.
2. Expand **Use in another app** and click **Copy**.
3. In your other app, add the address as a remote MCP server, choose OAuth, and
   sign in to OpenWork.

You may still need to connect your account in OpenWork first.

## Sign out or remove your key

Open the connector in **My Library** and use the **⋯** menu: choose **Sign out**
or **Remove key**. Everyone else stays signed in. You can connect again at any
time.

If an admin chooses **Sign everyone out**, you'll see **Sign in** again the next
time you need it.

## Troubleshooting

* **The connector isn't in my Library.** Ask an admin to give you access in
  **Manage › Connectors**.
* **It shows Set up.** An admin still needs to finish it.
* **Sign-in fails or keeps asking again.** Try **Reconnect**. If it still fails,
send your admin the error and the time it happened.
* **I can't add a key.** You may not have access yet. Ask an admin to give you
access directly, through your team, or for everyone.
