> ## Agent Instructions
> For agents: install the OpenWork desktop app with `brew install --cask openwork` (macOS) or from https://openworklabs.com/download. Do not run `npx openwork`; the npm package named `openwork` is a different project.
> Connect an agent to OpenWork with the MCP Gateway: `claude mcp add --transport http openwork https://api.openworklabs.com/mcp/agent`. Teams sign up at https://app.openworklabs.com?mode=sign-up.
> Step-by-step agent guide: https://openworklabs.com/docs/start-here/use-openwork-from-an-ai-agent.md
> Connect Slack (any organization admin): https://openworklabs.com/docs/slack/connect-slack.md. OpenWork in Slack (@openwork bot) is private alpha for approved organizations. # Manage plugins

> Create plugins in Manage › Plugins, import them from GitHub, choose who can use them, and group them into Collections.

A plugin gives your team's AI the same playbook for one kind of work. It bundles
**skills** (the steps, in plain words), **commands** (shortcuts like
`/follow-up`), and **connectors** (the apps those steps need). You share it with
the people who need it, and it shows up in their Library. The AI uses a skill
whenever a request matches it.

Not sure whether you need a connector, a skill or a plugin? See
[Connectors, skills, and plugins](https://openworklabs.com/docs/start-here/do-work-with-it/skills-plugins-and-mcp.md).

## Where to find it

In OpenWork Cloud, open **Manage › Plugins**. The list shows every plugin you
can see and whether it's **Private** or **Shared**.

* Search by name, or use **Team** to see what a team can use and **Owner** to see
  who made what.
* Each row's **⋯** menu has **Open**, and **Share** for a plugin only its owner
  can use.

Any member can create a plugin. Only you can use it until you share it.

## Create a plugin

**1. Start**

Click **Create a plugin**.

**2. Name it**

Fill in **Plugin name** and **Description** (what it helps people do).

**3. Add what's inside**

Under **What's inside**, add one or more of:

* **Skill**: name it, say when the AI should use it, and write the steps in
  plain words or Markdown.
* **Command**: name it, like `/follow-up`, and write what should happen when
  someone runs it.
* **Connector**: pick one you already added in
  [Connectors](https://openworklabs.com/docs/cloud/share-with-your-team/connectors.md). No connectors yet?
  Click **Add one first**.

**4. Create it**

Click **Create plugin**. Its page opens. Nobody else gets it until you
choose who can use it.

To add more skills later, open the plugin and use its **⋯** menu: **Edit
contents**. For tips on writing a good skill, see
[Publish and copy a skill](https://openworklabs.com/docs/start-here/do-work-with-it/publish-and-copy-a-skill.md#1-create-the-skill).

## Import a plugin from GitHub

Start from a plugin someone already wrote instead of from scratch. This copies
it once; to keep a plugin in step with a repository, use
[GitHub Sources](https://openworklabs.com/docs/cloud/share-with-your-team/github-sources.md) instead.

Importing needs the **Import plugins from GitHub** permission. Organization
owners and admins have it by default. You'll find **Import from GitHub** when you
add a plugin to a [Collection](https://openworklabs.com/docs/cloud/share-with-your-team/collections.md#add-plugins).

1. Click **Import from GitHub**.
2. Paste the **GitHub plugin URL** and click **Preview**. Only public GitHub
repositories work. OpenWork reads Claude-compatible plugins and
   [Agent Plugins](https://openworklabs.com/docs/model-context-protocol/agent-plugins.md#import-agent-plugins-into-openwork-library).
3. Choose the skills and MCP servers to include. Anything that can't come in
says why, for example **Desktop-only servers cannot be imported** or
**Static headers are not supported yet**.
4. For MCP servers, choose **MCP authentication** (**OAuth** or **No
authentication**) and **Account type** (**Individual accounts** or **One
   organization account**).
5. Finish the plugin like any other, then click **Create plugin**.

If an MCP server matches a connector you already have, OpenWork reuses it.

## Choose who can use it

Open the plugin from **Manage › Plugins**. Under **Who can use it**:

* Turn on **Everyone in the organization**, or
* Add people and teams.

Changes save right away. A toast offers **Undo** if you change your mind.
People you add find the plugin in their Library, in OpenWork Cloud and in the
desktop app.

The owner, a plugin manager, or anyone with **Manage everything shared** can
change who can use a plugin. Others see **Only a plugin manager or organization
admin can edit or remove it.**

## Group plugins into Collections

When several plugins go to the same people, put them in a Collection so one
access change covers the whole set. Open **Settings › Advanced** and select the
**Collections** tab. See [Collections](https://openworklabs.com/docs/cloud/share-with-your-team/collections.md).

A person gets a plugin if any route gives it to them: shared directly, through a
Collection, or with everyone.

## Remove a plugin

Open the plugin and choose **Remove** from its **⋯** menu. Nobody can use it
anymore.

## Agents, hooks and more from GitHub

Plugins you bring in from a connected GitHub repository can also include
**agents** and **hooks**, which you can't write in OpenWork Cloud. See
[Agents, commands, and hooks](https://openworklabs.com/docs/cloud/share-with-your-team/plugin-agents-commands-hooks.md).
