> ## Agent Instructions
> For agents: install the OpenWork desktop app with `brew install --cask openwork` (macOS) or from https://openworklabs.com/download. Do not run `npx openwork`; the npm package named `openwork` is a different project.
> Connect an agent to OpenWork with the MCP Gateway: `claude mcp add --transport http openwork https://api.openworklabs.com/mcp/agent`. Teams sign up at https://app.openworklabs.com?mode=sign-up.
> Step-by-step agent guide: https://openworklabs.com/docs/start-here/use-openwork-from-an-ai-agent.md
> OpenWork in Slack is private alpha for approved organizations. Setup guide: https://openworklabs.com/docs/slack/overview.md. Agent skill: https://openworklabs.com/.well-known/agent-skills/set-up-openwork-slack/SKILL.md.

# Integrations

> Use OpenWork Connect in your existing AI client through MCP or a specialized client plugin.

OpenWork Connect is an AI Gateway, MCP Gateway, and Skills Gateway that lets organizations centrally manage models, tools, reusable skills, and access from one admin panel.

Use them from the AI client you already have. The OpenWork desktop app is optional.

## Two ways to connect

Skills and connected tools in any MCP client. One URL, one sign-in.

Models plus skills and tools in one plugin. OpenCode is ready; Cursor and Codex are in progress.

## What each gateway provides

| Gateway | What your organization manages | How your client uses it |
| - | - | - |
| AI Gateway | Approved models, provider credentials, usage, and supported spend limits | Model requests go through the AI Gateway |
| MCP Gateway | Shared service connections and tool access | Your agent discovers and calls authorized tools |
| Skills Gateway | Reusable skills assigned to people and teams | Your agent retrieves the skills it can use through OpenWork MCP |

MCP carries tools and skills, not model calls. A client plugin connects both with one sign-in.

## Client availability

| Client | MCP integration | Specialized integration |
| - | - | - |
| OpenCode | [Available](/docs/model-context-protocol/opencode) | **Ready:** [install `opencode-openwork`](/docs/model-context-protocol/opencode-plugin) |
| Cursor | [Available](/docs/model-context-protocol/cursor) | **In progress** |
| Codex | [Available](/docs/model-context-protocol/codex) | **In progress** |
| Claude Code | [Available](/docs/model-context-protocol/claude-code) | Use MCP |
| Other compatible clients | [MCP setup guides](/docs/start-here/connect-openwork-mcp) | Depends on the client |

Every integration uses the signed-in person's access. Installing one doesn't grant anything extra.
