A section you don’t have access to stays visible with a lock and names the permission it needs.
Desktop app
Each launch of the desktop app sends one small report to your OpenWork server: the app version, platform, how many milliseconds it took to open the window, start the local engine, sign in to OpenWork and load your organization’s tools, and, if it failed, at which step and a short reason such as certificate not trusted or server name not found. Reports contain no file paths, URLs, email addresses or message content. If a device can’t reach your OpenWork server at all, the app keeps the report and sends it the next time it connects, so certificate and DNS problems still show up here. People who were never signed in send nothing. Reports are deleted after 30 days.AI providers
OpenWork checks each provider with the key your organization saved and lists the models it serves. It never sends a prompt, so checks cost nothing.- Ready: the key works and the models you configured are served.
- Key rejected: the provider answered 401 or 403. Update the key.
- Model missing: a model people can pick isn’t served by this endpoint. Remove it or fix the deployment name.
- Unreachable: the endpoint didn’t answer. Check the address and your network rules.
- Not checked: Vertex, Microsoft Foundry and Bedrock API keys can’t be checked without a model request. Bedrock access keys are checked with AWS STS, which proves the key but not model access.
Installation (self-hosted)
Installation administrators see each service and how long its check took:- OpenWork server: version, when it started and how long it took to start.
- Database: a real query.
- AI Gateway, Headless runner, Workbot: authenticated health checks. Resumable answers appear as a detail of the headless runner.
- Email: OpenWork signs in to your SMTP server, or checks that your Resend key works and the
EMAIL_FROMdomain is verified. No message is sent.
DEN_BOOTSTRAP_ADMIN_EMAILS. Organization owners and admins don’t get installation details unless they are on that list.
Check from a script
Use an organization API key to read the same data after a deploy:strict=1 the request fails with 503 when anything needs urgent attention, such as a rejected provider key or an unreachable service. Use POST /v1/org/diagnostics/check to start a fresh check. If the API key belongs to an installation administrator, the response includes the Installation section.
If the OpenWork server itself can’t answer, use the /health and /ready endpoints and your deployment logs instead.
